Regular Season Comes to a Close

 

The ICE finished off their regular season in Morden on February 10th as the forced the Hawks to a shootout, winning the game and ending the year in 4th place. 

 

As the regular season comes to a close, we take a look back on the ICE's journey, both individually and as a team, as they competed in their first season in the MFMHL.

 

Being a first year team to the league, the ICE knew form the beginning that they were on an uphill battle with numerous bumps along the way. Starting the season off with a 1-6 record, the ICE would show just how relentless and hardworking they are, finishing the end of the season with an impressive 13-3 record, to end the entire season with a total of 8 regulation losses. 

 

First year forward, Julia Bird, had an impressive year on the stats board as she led the MFMHL in goals, ending the season with 47 points in 53 games played.

 

First year goalie, Emily Shippam, ended the season with an impressive 1.65 GAA and .940 save percentage. Within the league, Emily finished third in GAA (1.64).

 

Grade 11 student, Liz Coleman, led the team in +/-, posting an impressive +25 to end the season, recording her last league minus on November 18th.

 

First year forward, Kate Stewart, led the team in assists, ending the year with 25 to her name, while finishing second in the league with 18 assists. 

 

Showing tremendous sportsmanship, Brooke Oxenforth ended the year with 0 penalty minutes in the MFMHL, notching just 2 minutes in the entire 53 games played over the 2018-19 season. 

 

With the season coming to a close, another battle is about to begin. The ICE take on the reigning provincial champs, Eastman Selects, in the first round of the playoffs. Preparing for an intense, hard fought series, the ICE are looking to make a name for themselves in the MFMHL. GO ICE GO!
