ICE Take Down Lightning, Capitals
The ICE were looking for another 4 points and a chance to climb the standings as they took on the Lightning and Capitals this past weekend.
First up was the Lightning. With a powerplay early on in the first period, the ICE were able to capitalize on their chance as Oxenforth fired in a shot from the slot off of a feed from Jocelyn and McLennan. Later in the period, the Lightning went on the powerplay, but it was J.Bird who scored short-handed for the ICE as she dangled through a couple of defenders, off a feed from Stewart. The period would end with the ICE up 2-0.
The second period saw the ICE continue the pressure as both Jocelyn and Barclay netted a goal, with Medock and Kraus assisting on both the goals.
Despite the third period ending scoreless, the ICE would hold onto the 4-0 lead, as Baker recorded the well deserved shutout, stopping all 27 shots faced.

The second period would see the ICE capitalize on the powerplay as J.Bird recieved a pass from S.Bird, and walked in off the half wall to fire a shot past the netminder and put the ICE up by two. Later in the second, starting from a breakout, Yewdall would pick up the puck off a feed from both J.Bird and Garofalo before flying down the wing, and firing a shot top shelf to give the ICE the 3 goal lead.
Shippam ended the evening with an impressive 29 saves, earning herself the shutout.
