ICE Freeze Selects
Coming off two strong games vs the Chiefs and Capitals, the ICE took on the Selects, hoping to continue their climb in the standings.
Halfway through the first period, with a scramble in front of the Eastman netminder, R.Yewdall tapped in the puck to put the ICE up by 1.
The second period saw pressure from both sides, yet neither team was able to put the puck in the back of the net.
Heading into the third with a 1-0 lead, B.Oxenforth gave us a reassurance goal as she fired the puck in from the slot, off of a great feed from R.Yewdall. With 2 minutes left in the game and the ICE up by a score of 2-0, the ref handed us a penalty, allowing the Selects to go 6 on 4 with their netminder pulled. K.Stewart came up huge, as she blocked a hard shot from the point, that then headed straight into Eastman's net to put the ICE up by 3. With 9.3 seconds left in the game, an Eastman shot from the point got deflected into the net to ruin the much deserved shut out.
E.Shippam ended the evening with an impressive 28 saves.
With that win, the ICE now take sole possesion of 5th place, one point behind 4th.
Final Score:
