ICE Enter 2019 With A Bang
The Winnipeg Ice enjoyed 2 weeks off over the holidays, with their first game of 2019 coming on January 5th.
The ICE returned to action taking on the Interlake Lightning in Stonewall, looking to get back in the Win coloumn after a tough OT loss to the Wildcats in their last game of 2018.
Wasting little time, the ICE went to work and found the back of the net 4 times in the first period with goals coming from J.Bird (2), Oxenforth, and Barclay.
The goal scoring didn't stop there as the ICE would net 3 more goals by the end of the game off the sticks of Tobin, Barclay and J.Bird.
Shippam stood her ground stopping a breakaway, 4 powerplays, and other chances to end the night with 16 saves.
Final Score:
ICE 7
Lighning 1
Julia Bird recorded her first career hat-trick raising her total to 7 goals in the last 4 games. With that hat-trick, Julia currently leads the MMFHL in goals.
Next up, the ICE take on home town rivals as the ICE play their fourth and final regular season game against the Avros on Wednesday, January 9th.
