Exhibition Games Come to a Close

 

 

The Winnipeg Ice wrapped up their exhibition games this weekend with a win in Portage La Prairie against the Central Plains Capitals.

 

Game 1 of exhibition saw the Winnipeg Ice take to the ice for the first time in 4 years. The ice faced off against the avros and the game ended in a 1 all tie. Maggie Medock got the lone goal for the Ice with the feed coming from Keira Christensen. Emily Shippam backed up the Ice with a 23 save performance. 

 

Game 2 of exhibition had the Ice playing in a rematch vs the Avros. Off to a quick start, the Ice went up 2-0 with both goals coming from Kate Stewart. The Avros capitalized on their chances adding 4 goals of their own before the final buzzer would sound. Morgan Baker played stellar with a 37 save game. 

 

The third and final game of the Ice pre season would have the Ice traveling to Portage La Prairie to face off against the Central Plains Capitals. Going down 2-0 in the second, the Ice battled back and found the back of the net 3 times to Win the game. Goals came from Julia Bird, Sandrene Garofalo, and Raegan Yewdall. 

 

The Ice are back in action Sept 21st as the head back to Portage La Prairie for the Central Plains tournament with their first match against the Eastman Selects.
